1. Online update by UFACTORY xArm Studio

1.1 Network environment

During the online update of UFACTORY xArm Studio and UFACTORY xArm Firmware by UFACTORY xArm Studio, the UFACTORY xArm control box will access the Internet to obtain updates, so you need to ensure that the UFACTORY xArm control box can access the Internet. The recommended connection method is shown in the following figure. If your UFACTORY xArm control box cannot connect to the Internet, please refer to "2. Update by xArm-tool-gui".

1.2 Online Update

Click [Settings] on the UFACTORY xArm Studio homepage, enter [System Settings] → [Check Update], click "Update".

Wait for the system to prompt to restart, and then click "Restart", the restart usually takes about 2-3 minutes, please be patient.

If the "Update" button of the UFACTORY xArm Studio's check update interface is gray, you need to read the following, "2. Update by xarm-tool-gui".

2. Update by xArm-tool-gui

2.1 Tool download

Download address of xarm-tool-gui tool, UFACTORY xArm Studio and UFACTORY xArm Firmware installation package:

If your computer connected to the UFACTORY xArm control box can access the Internet, please refer to "2.2 Online Update by xArm-tool-gui".

If your computer connected to the UFACTORY xArm control box cannot access the Internet, please download the above installation package using a U disk, copy it to the computer connected to the UFACTORY xArm control box, and then refer to "2.3 Offline Update by xarm-tool-tui".

2.2 Online Update by xArm-tool-gui

(1) After decompressing the installation package, run the xarm-tool-gui program that matches your computer's operating system, select the type of robotic arm, and enter the IP address of the UFACTORY xArm control box, then click "Connect".

(2) After successful connection, click the [Check Update] button, then click the [Install Online] in the Firmware installation box (UFACTORY xArmStudio installation box), and finally click the [Install] button in the pop-up box;

(3) After the installation is completed, the console of the xarm-tool-gui will display "Install firmware success" (or "Install Studio success"). Finally, click "Reboot Control Box" and wait for the control box to reboot, the reboot usually takes about 2-3 minutes.

2.3 Offline Update by xArm-tool-gui

(1) After decompressing the installation package, run the xarm-tool-gui program that matches your computer's operating system, select the type of robotic arm, and enter the IP address of the UFACTORY xArm control box, then click "Connect".

(2) After successful connection, click the [Install Offline] in the Firmware installation box (UFACTORY xArmStudio installation box), then load the corresponding "firmware" or "UFACTORY xArm Studio" compressed package in the folder.

(3) After the installation is completed, the console of the xarm-tool-gui will display "Install firmware success" (or "Install Studio success"). Finally, click "Reboot Control Box" and wait for the control box to reboot, the reboot usually takes about 2-3 minutes.

3. Precautions

If there is no IO module on the side of your control box (the IO module is shown in the figure below) and cannot be updated online by UFACTORY xArm Studio, please contact technical support (support@ufactory.cc) to provide a dedicated xarm-gool-gui installation package.
